About 304 (18-8) Grade Stainless Steel

18-8 is an overarching specification which covers a number of 300 series stainless steels including 304 stainless steel. All 300 series stainless has approximately 18% chromium and 8% nickel content. In general 18-8 grades of stainless including 304 have high corrosion resistance and are non-magnetic. 304 stainless in particular contains 18% chromium content which gives it very good corrosion and oxidation resistance. This alloy resists most oxidising acids and has excellent resistance to rusting.
